At its December meeting, the STARS Alliance Board of Directors approved a joint DevonWay/STARS Alliance Strategic project. STARS has used multiple DevonWay applications, hosted through the Utilities Service Alliance (USA) environment, for the License Renewal project over the last few years. In addition, Alliance member stations have independently implemented DevonWay applications to support a variety of performance improvement processes, including observation programs, corrective action programs, performance indicators, self-assessments, and operating experience programs.
Tony Harris, STARS Alliance Projects Manger, notes, “This partnership provides the Alliance with a unique opportunity to work with DevonWay to develop new applications and refine existing ones. We are very excited about this project and look forward to a successful partnership with our DevonWay friends.”
“This project gives STARS the opportunity to help our members in several ways- by demonstrating the feasibility of a wider use of DevonWay applications, by helping to train STARS personnel in their use and by obtaining favorable pricing for STARS members if they choose to purchase DevonWay products in the future” noted Jim Becker, STARS President.
STARS has utilized a range of DevonWay products in the past, on both independent and alliance-wide levels, and this new collaboration will allow for greater development and innovation within these technologies.
DevonWay and STARS have begun work on multiple projects through the partnership, notably deploying the DevonWay DashWay application and moving license renewal modules into a newly-created STARS environment. The DashWay application will be used to process and present the common Alliance functional area metrics, which will provide STARS personnel the opportunity to perform a more in-depth analysis of station performance. These projects will enable futher collaboration on the implementation and development of these applications.
Bob Felton discussed the opportunity available with this joint endeavor and noted the possibilities of truly influential collaboration: “We at DevonWay are excited that STARS has selected our technology platform YourWay to create a new generation of nucler apps for the new STARS Alliance. Our platform, tools and cloud-hosted capabilities provide a unique infrastructure on which STARS will gain alliance advantages. While DevonWay has achieved outstanding results with most of the STARS sites on an individual basis, we know that real innovation happens through effective collaboration across borders.”
