We are excited to announce the Mobile 1.23 release, and would like to showcase two of the biggest changes: Image Annotation and support for both Modifiable and Non-modifiable Attachments.
Image Annotation
We are launching a new feature that allows for pictures to be annotated directly within the DevonWay app. This feature is only available on iOS for now; Android and Windows support will come later. The simple steps to use image annotation are:
Step 1: Take a picture in the iOS mobile app by clicking on the camera icon. Add the photo to the app by selecting ‘Use Photo’ or “Choose Existing”. You will then be able to locate the image on the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Open the image and click on the paintbrush. You will see four annotation options: add text, pencil for drawing on the image, eraser and the option to add an image. The picture to the left provides examples of adding text (“May 2020”), the ability to insert an image with an example of another photo displayed inside the yellow circle, the yellow circle that shows drawing on the image and the eraser to erase parts or all of an annotation.
Step 3: Submit or check-in the Mobile Form or Observation. Once the item is synced, it will be available on the desktop application.
Support for Modifiable and Non-modifiable Attachments
Before the 1.23 release, attachments were either always non-modifiable or always modifiable depending on what part of the app you were using; for example, attachments to mobile forms were always non-modifiable and documents in a work package were always modifiable.
Application Engineers can now set up module rules to control whether attachments are modifiable or non-modifiable, and the app respects those rules. (By default, attachments are view-only.) For example, an attachment may be modifiable for the purpose of requesting a supervisor signature, and then made non-modifiable for workflow steps beyond that.
