Overland Park, KS – Utilities Service Alliance Human Performance Summit. DevonWay, Inc., the leading provider of utility business management solutions, added ObservationWay™ to the Continuous Improvement suite of software products for the utility industry.
ObservationWay is a one-stop solution to administer, manage, and analyze observation programs for utilities. A basic necessity for today’s utilities is to manage human performance observations and to use the observation programs for continuously improving performance against industry safety and operational benchmarks. ObservationWay is aligned with industry best practices and integrates directly with ActionWay or other Corrective Action Programs to measure the impact of the observation program against incidents at the plant.
Nuclear plant operations today continually challenge departments to improve their safety and reliability and identify process gaps. This often leads to departmental point solutions, which hinder station-wide trending and overall process efficiency. To support departments while achieving plant-wide performance improvement goals, ObservationWay delivers an extensive library of human performance features and trending capabilities. As with all DevonWay products, ObservationWay is highly configurable and is designed for non- technical users to participate in a collaborative environment. ObservationWay supports and tracks observation expectations, comes pre-packaged with over 70 scorecards with a library of behaviors that represent industry best practices, and includes a robust out-of-the-box workflow to route observations to the appropriate supervisors for review.
ObservationWay recently went live at Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) and is an integral piece of the Observation Program at the Ft. Calhoun Nuclear Station. According to Amy Hansen, Supervisor Performance Improvement at Ft. Calhoun Station, “ObservationWay consolidated eight systems into a single platform, which was flexible enough to support specialized workflow and business rule requirements unique to training but not other observation programs at OPPD.” According to Ms. Hansen, “DevonWay met our roll-out schedule and supported us every step of the way through the ObservationWay deployment.”
